The time of rebuilding is here

INSIGHTS TO 2023

Steel framing can solve construction challenges in the time of rebuilding

During the past few years, various industries have experienced tough times on a global scale. COVID-19 pandemic is over, but remarkable challenges still exist: Challenges with energy economy, the natural disasters like the earthquake in Turkey and Syria area, ongoing war in Ukraine and influences of climate change. These all challenge the entire construction industry as well as the whole steel industry. Like you, we at Samesor have felt the waves of these stormy times. It is a fact that we still live in unstable times, but we believe that the rapidly developing steel industry, new innovations in steel and especially steel framing, hold many keys to a brighter future, both in rebuilding and adapting to the changing climatic conditions.

FINDING IMMEDIATE SOLUTIONS DURING A CRISIS

In the area of Turkey and Syria, a devastating earthquake took place on 6th February. The main priority for all, including local construction industry manufacturers, was to save as many people as possible. Equipment and effort of the numerous manufacturers was harnessed into use in the rescue and rebuilding operation.

We are proud to say that also machines built by Samesor are used in effort to build steel framed containers and buildings for the survivors, giving them temporary shelters as the first step during the disaster, and furthermore: new homes where to start rebuilding their new life.

Thanks to the efficient and flexible process of roll forming and sheet working, it is possible to produce prefabricated steel frame structures for different kinds of buildings fast and efficiently. Steel framing offers not only significant cost benefits compared to competitive building materials, but also reduces labour time and labour needed on site.

These are clear advantages of steel framing, when quick action is paramount, such as when building after a natural disaster or during post-war reconstruction. Steel will undoubtedly be one of the key materials needed for reconstruction in both Turkey/Syria and Ukraine areas.

Samesor range of steel framing machines contains production solutions for a wide range of buildings: from containers and shelters up to warehouses and multi-storeys.

STEEL FRAMING OFFERS SUSTAINABLE SOLUTIONS IN REBUILDING

When rebuilding, every new construction today will have to consider the future and see the big picture as well. We have to work to mitigate climate change as well as adapt to the changing environments. In the not so distant future, most likely a big part of the world will experience higher temperatures, higher humidity, and rising sea levels as climate change warms our planet. Rebuilding without considering the demands that the construction materials face in the changing environment of the future would be a huge mistake which we cannot face. As would be building without considering the construction’s impact on the environment.

The steel framing offers a sustainable solution when you are looking for a way to build long-lasting buildings with minimal effect on the environment. Steel is the most recycled material on the planet, and cold-formed steel processing reduces the energy needed to manufacture steel frames. Its corrosion resistance and dimensional stability help give it a longevity that few building materials can rival.

In addition, in the high earthquake risk areas, like Turkey and Syria, steel framing can be a superior solution not only for rebuilding infrastructure back as it was but rebuilding it more earthquake resistant. Due to the strength, lower mass, ductility, and the ability to absorb energy during earthquakes, steel structures are a suitable solution for constructions in high earthquake risk areas.

THE TIME OF REBUILDING IS HERE

We at Samesor believe that the future of the construction industry is more environment friendly, cost & energy effective, and based on capability in customising. Of course, we cannot build this future all by ourselves. It is built together with reliable and inspiring partnerships with our customers, with whom we work closely to design even better roll forming machinery to meet their goals.
